Aiden's First Sweat

Aiden and I went for our first sweat together. It was Aiden's first official sweat! We were introduced by Eric, Bernice's boyfriend, to a family celebrating the ways of the Dakota people. It was a very welcoming group from different tribes. Since Aiden and I are Mexican, we were automatically welcomed as mochica. Mochica is the practice of indigenous peoples from Mexico.

Aiden was a champ and made it through half of the first round. At which point he made it very clear it was time to get out. They let us out early, which is customary with babies and small children. We waited near by until the sweat was officially over and then everyone feasted together. We truly missed Bernice and wished she could have been there. She is Aiden's spiritual guide through the ways of the mochica people. We can't wait for her return.
